After a lazy breakfast we had a chance to start the day a little better than yesterday; with prayer! We then set to work on the two construction projects, while a third team went to the old age home to share the gospel and prayer wherever the opportunity arose.
Project one (let’s call it Charlie) is the construction of two play towers that will include swings, a slide and sand pit. Nick wisely put the ladies in charge of the instructions and working out the length of the planks (as men tend to just get on with it and work out what went wrong afterwards). Rob and Rory then set to sawing the planks while Dustin (lead pastor and walking MacGyver – if you ever watched that show) deciphered the layout.
Project two (Delta) involves laying a path down with stones and concrete. So a few guys set off with the pick up to load up with sand and concrete while Richard, Mark and Nick got cracking on with setting the rocks etc.
Anna, Paula and Joy headed off to the nursing home, along with the tracts from KA. Excitingly they had the chance to pray for a couple of the elderly. Most notably they spent some time with a lady who struggled to talk clearly as a result of a stroke. After praying with her she soon started to hold a conversation with them. The icing on the cake was that she also looked at her arm, in great surprise, and said I can twist it! We will update you with further details after the next couple of visits. Please pray that this is just the start and that the staff will also be impacted!
By lunchtime project Charlie was going well. As you can see from the photos, the first tower from Charlie is taking shape and after some set backs (tower two kit is missing all screws etc) it looks like we will be able to finish it before we leave. Delta is moving along even faster and may even be complete by tomorrow.
This afternoon we hope to even make time for the high ropes, I mean tower of Babel height ropes, and if we all survive the death drop wire (which Dustin unhelpfully let us know was probably more scary than a bungee jump) we will make the sauna tonight!
Four more have gone back to the old age home and project Delta is entering the concrete mixing stage. More soon – due to the tight schedule you may not get an update until late this evening or first thing tomorrow. That’s not totally honest, may just be enjoying the sauna too much after a hard days work!
Prayer points
- Rob’s shoulder may have been healed this morning – he needs to test it out during the day. Pray that it has and that it holds up to his Sonic the hedgehog speed sawing.
- The team in the old age home this afternoon – for more miracles.
- Rory’s back, lower disks are slightly inflamed and is surviving on painkillers and prayer.
- That the weather holds out. We have had all seasons in one morning so far.
Go for it bro! You’re in our thoughts and prayers (and M&D’s too as they mentioned the blog on the phone tonight). Trust B & R are enjoying the experience with you and are not too tired! Really lloking fwd to seeing you in 2 weeks time. With much love, frabl xxx ooo xxx
